As you know there are four stages of the HCG diet, so we will discuss each phase separately.

Phase Zero or Pre-Diet

Before beginning the four phase journey of the HCG diet, you may choose to do a pre-diet cleanse that prepares your body for the diet although it is not required. You can do a mild cleanse and eliminate all kinds of processed food from your diet or you can take extreme measures and do a colon cleanse or candida cleanse.

Phase 1

In the first phase you will be taking high caloric and highly fatty foods along with the HCG drops or pills for two days. The HCG interferes with how your body stores fat and begins the process of lipid mobilization.

Phase 2

The phase 2 of the HCG diet begins on the third day. From this day onwards you will be on a low calorie diet of 500 calories per day. Also you will continue taking the HCG drops or pills. The length of phase 2 depends on how much weight you want to lose. So it can be a minimum of twenty-three doses of HCG to a maximum of forty doses of HCG. Phase 3

The phase 3 involves maintaining the weight you have lost during phase 2. It can last up to 3 or 4 weeks. During phase 3 you will be avoiding foods that contain starch, sugar or foods with excessive fat. After 23 days at minimum, have passed you will either begin a new round of the HCG drops or pills, or you will proceed to the final stage.

Phase 4

The final stage of the HCG diet is where you maintain your weight by eating enough calories, between 1200-2500 a day, that keep you from both losing further weight or gaining it. It depends upon your physique and what your weight goal was.
